AC MOTOR VECTOR DRIVES AND DC DRIVES
AC Vector Drives are for applications where accuracy is a must. They utilize encoder feedback
to allow electric motor shaft speeds to go from full speed down to ZERO rpm and anything
in between. Motors specifically designed for Vector Drives are designed to run continuously
at very low speeds without damage to the motor. They also can deliver high torque at low
speeds, making them ideal for positive displacement pumps that sometimes run at low speeds
and are under constant pressure or pumping high viscosities. Their ability to “index” the
motor shaft repeatedly also makes them useful for filling machines. DC Drives take in 115v or
230v single phase current and convert it to 90 vdc or 180 vdc in order to run a SCR DC motor.
These economical speed controls also deliver constant motor torque at 20:1 rpm turndown.
Both AC Vector Drives and DC Drives are for use for positive displacement pumps. These
drives can be added to pumps on the preceding pages to make a nice pump package!
